Carol Jacobs
Started of as a background vocalist for artist like the late Kitchener, the mighty Sparrow, Duke and Shadow, just to name a few.
Both she and her husband Carl Jacobs together with Robin Imamshar were lead singers in the band Shandelier.
After leaving this band she and Carl formed their own musical band “Carl & Carol”
Carl& Carol were successful at winning the title own musical band on the road for carnival Day with mass Peter Minshal Together the dynamic Duo have recorded 5 albums including great hits like “Sanitmanita” “Savage” and bend down and rock.”to name a few.
For the past two years she has been in Trinidad, working with some of the top arrangers like Kenny Phillip, Pelham Goddard and Leston Paul.
Year 2000 Carol performed solo, to her first CD, Family. Produced by David Rudder.
This year 2001, Carol’s album, entitled “Wishing on a star” was produced and arranged by her husband Carl Jacobs and Pelham Goddard.
She composed most of the tracks on his CD.
At the time Carol is touring and performing background vocals for, David Rudder and Charles Roots, and is currently in the process of producing a music video for a track on her 2002 CD Wishing on a star
Carl Jacobs began his career in high school where he participated in folk masses and opera as a lead singer. In 1970 Carl the coveted title ‘Best Male Vocalist’ in Trinidad. Young Jacobs then joined the Troubadours” doing lead and background vocals, alongside the; Mighty Sparow’’ the renowned Calypso King of the World. It was during this period that he met Carol, whom he later married. Together as ‘The sweethearts of soca,’’ they performed with several of the top bands in Trinidad, including Charlie’s Roots Mike Boothman and Friends, and finally ending with Shandileer before forming their own group, Carl & Carol-Islanda. By this time they had become regular session back up vocalists working in almost every successful calypso album in Caribbean.
The 80’s found Carl expanding his musical horizons and becoming a prolific song writer. The breakthrough was not until 1986 with their song ‘Bend Down & Rock’ which attracted the attention of singer/producer Eddie Grant. He was so impressed with the ‘JUMBIE BEAT’ sound being pioneered by Carl & Carol were signed to IC Label.
From that time to present Carl & Carol have succeeded in recording sixteen albums and 12 singles each reaching an ever increasing audience and establishing a New Wave of Calypso Music called Soca.
Their music and live performances have won them acclaim from their peers and various groups. Among titles awarded are:

Carl & Carol presently residing in Miami are enjoying an overwhelming positive response to their New Wave Soca music. This fusion of reggae, calypso, pop and jazz has been wholeheartedly accepted by all demographic groups in the United States, the Caribbean and Canada.
As recent as 1992, pace presented a Celebration of Music Festival. Carl’s Band Caribbean islander was voted “Best Island Band” On July 11th, 1992 Carl Carol continues to perform at crocs on Tuesdays, Bayside on Thursday, Aruba in Ft.Lauderdale on Fridays and Penrods Saturdays and Sundays in South Miami Beach.
They both have three beautiful children. Carla18,Caryl 15 and an only son Kyle 11.
They continue to put family first and is positive and optimistic that with their contribution Caribbean Soca Music will crossover, hence the reason for playing in the American market. Carl & Carl continue to use their talent to promote our unique Caribbean music… a dream that goes very deep.
